We fight the spiritual battle by obeying Christ

Let God on the inside of us in Christ Jesus Arise and Scatter the Fear of the Corona Virus as He goes ahead of His People… Psalm 68:1 & 7.

🤺 Most of the World is going through the fear of the second wave of the Corona Virus and the inevitable Lockdown to save lives. Prayer requests are on the rise for loved ones who are tested positive and some are battling for their lives. In the midst of all this, we can praise God for Jesus who overcame the world and all its problems triumphantly through His Resurrection. Psalm 68 is a triumphant Psalm. It’s a picture of Jesus’s victory over Satan. Psalm 68 is a victory song of Jesus’ resurrection. And His Ascension into heaven was the crowning glory of a triumphant King who leads the way home after the war is won and the enemies shattered and scattered, Psalm 68:1.

To understand Psalm 68:1, let’s rewind our thoughts to Numbers 10:35-36, to the wilderness journey of the Israelites under the leadership of Moses centuries earlier. Whenever the Ark moved, Moses would say, Arise, O Lord, and let your enemies be scattered, and let those who hate You flee before You” and when it rested, Moses said, “Return, O Lord, to the ten thousand thousands of Israel”. God’s people were following closely behind the Ark and they were protected as they moved through the numerous enemy countries, where the enemies were scattered before them.

🤺 David, centuries later, when faced with numerous hostile enemy armies, quoted this in his Psalm. He knew that the God who led Moses and His people will do the same for him and God’s people. David knew that just as easy as wind can blow smoke away so God can scatter His enemies away, and just as wax melts before fire, his enemies can melt before God’s power, Psalm 68:2.

🤺 Child of God, Remember this, we fight the spiritual battle by obeying Christ and by using our gift in the church and encouraging others to do the same. We don’t have physical armies to fight now. Ours are spiritual battles. Jesus didn’t fight physical armies. He shattered Satan and the demonic world triumphantly, Colossians 2:15. He came to destroy Satan’s power, 1 John 3:8. Jesus cleared the way for us to the Father’s Presence with His Blood, just like God cleared the way for David through deliverance and salvation of His people, Psalm 68:18-20.

🤺 Because our enemies are not physical but spiritual, doing battle in the spiritual realm is different. Paul, in Ephesians 4:7-11, quotes Psalm 68. Paul teaches about spiritual warfare and about the spiritual armor in Ephesians 6. Paul is writing to the Church that David was writing about Jesus Christ as the foreshadow of God’s salvation plan for us. It is Jesus Christ Who has led captivity captive and scattered the enemy. It is Christ that leads His people and it is Christ that gives gifts to His people to equip them for the purpose of following Him faithfully and obediently. He has graced us and gifted us to bring others into His Kingdom and teach them and help them to follow Him.

Jesus, the Captain of our Salvation, has scattered the fear of death, our great enemy and the corona virus the invisible enemy, on the Cross, so that we too can have victory over Death and Corona Virus, Hebrew 2:14-15. Let us say and declare: “Let God on the inside of me in Christ Jesus Arise and Scatter the enemy” because the One in me is greater than the one in the world, 1 John 4:4. Just as God always went ahead of His people, to bring them safely, He will bring us through safely through this pandemic in Jesus our Ark, Who goes ahead of us, Psalm 68:7… Amen. 🙏
