SOS 8:6 has been attributed to both the Shulamite and Solomon in different Bibles. I prefer the former.

The Shulamite was in Solomon’s harem which had many queens, concubines and virgins. Here, she felt insignificant, a rose of sharon. So she tells him to put her as a seal on his heart and arm, to show herself and the world that he loved her. Why? Because she could become jealous.

We as the Church speaking to Christ, say the same thing. We want constant assurances that He loves us, that we are the apple of His eye OR we sulk.

Marriage is a yoke worn by equal partners. What one expects of the other, has to be first done by the former. As the Bride married to Christ, do we have Him as a seal on our hearts and arms?

Moses and Joshua had earlier told Israel in Deut 4:24 & Josh 24:19 not to worship other gods, for His name is Jealous; He is a jealous God.

God Himself says this; “I the Lord your God am a jealous God…” (Exo 20:5). HE, like any spouse, doesn’t like it when we shift our focus off Him. He has scars on His heart (side) and arms (hands), and feet to prove His love.

Does our love for Him burn with the same jealous flame? That is something I will have to ponder on today.

Song of songs: 2: 15

“Catch for us the foxes, the
little foxes that ruin the
vineyards, our vineyards that
are in bloom.”

⚡ Foxes appear in the
love poetry of the song of
songs that reveals the love
between the bridegrom and
the bride and some scholars
believe, between God and
His people.

⚡ The bride warns about
little foxes and asking her
bridegroom to catch them. She fears that the little foxes
hungry for the vineyard’s grapes, could tear the tender plants apart. The idea is that
their relationship is like a fruitful vineyard and little foxes will damage the vineyard unless they are
stopped and caught.

⚡ These little foxes are the
image of our evil habits which may ruin our relationship with Jesus Christ. The enemies may be
small, but the mischief done are great.See how numerous
the little foxes are ! Little
compromise with the world,
disobedience to the still small voice in little things, little indulgences of the flesh to the neglect of duty, deviatian from our commitment to the Lord
and every words and deeds that spoil the beauty and the
fruitfulness of the vine.

Allegorically we can
consider the tender grapes as:
💎a humble faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
💎 a tendency to weep over
sin.
💎a genuine change of life.
💎a life of reading the Bible
and devotion.
💎 an eager desire for more
grace..
💎 a deep love to Jesus.

If you have any tender
grapes upon your branches,
the devil and his foxes will be there to spoil it. So get
as close to your bridegroom
