Almighty God declares His plans concerning His people Jerusalem and Judah
Zechariah 12
In this chapter, the Almighty God declares His plans concerning His people Jerusalem and Judah, vs 1. On the day they are besieged, they will become a heavy burden to those Nations who besiege them, yet the Nations will still assemble against them, vs 2,3!
In that day, God Himself will strike every horse with confusion and blindness, and its rider with madness, but will pay close attention to the house of Judah, vs 4, and the leaders of Judah will realise that all the inhabitants of Jerusalem are a means of strength to them because of their God, vs 5.
God will make the leaders of Judah the ones that initiate burning and the ones who burn the Nations around them, such that the people of Jerusalem would settle once more in their rightful place, vs 6! Judah will be restored first, such that its splendor will exceed the kingship of David, as well as that of Jerusalem, vs 7, and God will marvellously defend Jerusalem, vs 8, while He will set out to destroy all the Nations that come against her, vs 9.
This will be because, God will pour out upon the kingship of David and the population of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication, such that they will lament for the One they pierced, as one laments a bitter cry for an only son, vs 10!
Yes each clan will lament with their respective husbands and wives, separately by themselves, viz. The royal household of David, the family of Nathan, the descendants of Levi and the family of the Shimeites and all the clans that remain, will go into private mourning, as they look upon the one they pierced, vs 11-14! Thus we see that heartfelt repentance brings about God’s deliverance and protection to amazing levels, and fills us with grace and strength to overcome all our adversaries!
It will lead us to being baptized in the Holy Spirit and fire that will burn up all our enemies, such that we settle into our rightful inheritance, and thus the weakest among us will be like mighty David, and the dynasty of David will be like God, even like the angel of the LORD before them.
So let us walk in heartfelt repentance and faith in God’s Word, so as to experience God’s mighty protection and deliverance from all our enemies.
Amen.
