📖 Genesis Chapter Eleven

Revisiting the Tower of Babel

God’s purpose for all the survivors of the flood was that they ” be fruitful , multiply and fill the earth ” ( Gen 9:1,7 ) But the people of that time had a different agenda “… make a name for ourselves and not be scattered over the face of the whole world ” . Gen 11:4b
In the first 11 chapters of Genesis four great events are recorded: The Creation of the universe; The Fall of man; The Flood & the construction of Tower of Babel. A sincere study would reveal that where mankind disobeys God , He judges the sin , and then in His grace makes a new beginning.

📌 Adam and Eve sinned but God clothed them and promised to send a Redeemer .
📌 Cain killed Abel but God sent Seth to carry on the godly line
📌 The Sethites intermarried the godless Cainites. God had to wipe the earth clean with a flood but spared Noah and his family to fill the earth
📌 After the flood , people with one language move to Nimrod’s city of Babylon to build a tower but God stopped the work by confusing their language and scattered them .

The Babel Factor: It was an arrogant declaration of war against the Lord . To go against God’s command ” to multiply and fill the earth ” .
✔️ They took the advantage of one nation and one language ( Satan’s plan to make one nation , one language , one currency under one ruler )
✔️ Motivated by one spirit of pride and a common desire to make a name for themselves
✔️ To build a Tower that reaches to heaven ( submitting to Satan’s lie in Eden you will be like God)

The Mark’s of Babel

1) Let US make
✒ ” Let US make bricks..” v 3
2) Let US build
✒ “Let US build ourselves a city..” v 4
3) Let US receive worship
✒ “.. that reaches to the heavens ” v 4b
4) Let US make a name for ourselves v 4b
5) Let US remain in one place v 4c . Unity against God’s command

Babel Lives on

The phrase Let US is human initiative and is in contrast with the will of God .
In Matthew 16:17-18 Jesus says , ” On this rock I will build my church “.
The Babel statement is “Let US build a CITY “

Who is going to do the building?

Is it going to be Let US make ( denomination / church / ministry ) or is it going to be Build Your Church Lord in the Christendom today ❓

BREAKING THE BABEL FACTOR 🔨
Babel’s conceited ” Let US go up” was answered by heaven’s calm “Let us go down” . God does not have to investigate to know what’s going on in the universe @ the language is used to express God’s intervention.
~ He stopped their project by confusing the language .
~ He scattered them .

✅ By confusing their language and scattering them over all the earth , God graciously spared their lives and gave them opportunity to return to Him .
✅ The thing that broke the Babel factor was God coming down and causing them to speak in other tongues ( Gen 11:6-9)
✅ That’s what the Day of Pentecost was intended to accomplish.. to scatter those who spoke new languages into all the earth – preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ.
✅ Speaking in other tongues, sharing the good news of Jesus Christ took place on the Day of Pentecost ( Acts 2:1-11).

Beloved , if the Babel factor prevails , just focus your eyes upon Jesus .✝ He is able and willing to set you free.
