Withholds kindness from a friend forsakes

Job: 6:14
Anyone who withholds kindness from a friend forsakes the fear of the
Almighty

When we go through the book of job, we find that during Job’s time of grieving his three friends came to mourn with him and to comfort him. For the first 7 days they sat and wept with him because he was in deep sorrow(Job:2:11-13) “No one spoke a word to
him, for they saw that his grief was very great (Vs.13) Their presence alone was a
comfort to him.

⚡ But they began to lecture. They told Job he must have sinned and that God was punishing him. (Job: 4: 7 -9) One of his friends, Eliphaz even asked Job, ‘Whoever being perished, being innocent?” They acted as if they are advocates of the Almighty
pleading for His cause. They exposed all their knowledge about God, ignoring their words are piercing swords to the already broken heart of Job.

⚡ When Job finally able to respond, he told his friends what he needed from them. He asked for reasons to continue hoping. (Job:6: 11) for kindness, (Vs.14) and for words that did not presume guilt. (Vs: 29-30)

⚡ Let us pray for sensitivity to deal with people in their grief and pain.

⚡ To weep with them and to show our love in ways mere words cannot attain. When someone is grieving-try to comfort them not to lecture.

⚡ When you do not know what to say, it is better not to speak.

🌈 Sometimes the best way
to comfort is to sit quietly
with the hurting person.
