Abides in Me, and l in him, bears much fruit
John 15:5 Jesus said, “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and l in him, bears much fruit”.
Yes, we are planting trees in our garden. For what? To get much fruit from that tree. Fruits are the yield we get from the plant or tree. The fruits will feed us and others. Not only that, the seeds in the fruit will bring many seedlings for it’s propagation.
Here Jesus is calling everyone who accepts Him as Saviour, as the branches which are united with Him, the vine. What a great blessing we received to abide in Him as His branches! But what He expects from us as branches are only to give much fruits.
How can we abide in Him? Through prayer, by the meditation of the word of God, and by our obedience to His words we can abide in Him.
We should abide in Him, in His word, and in His love.
He will prune ( with His words and Holy Spirit) the branch which will bring fruit, so that it will bear more fruit.
Every branch in Him, that does not bear fruit, He takes away and it will be withered and throw them in to the fire.
What kind of fruits He expects from us?
- Fruits worthy of repentance. Mathew 3: 8.
- Fruit of the Spirit- love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control.
- Fruits of righteousness . Philipians 1: 11.
- Fruits of goodworks. Colossians 1: 10.
- Fruit of our lips, giving thanks to the Lord. Hebrew 13:15.
Yes, when we bear much fruit, our Father will be glorified and we will be His disciples. Therefore let us abide in Jesus and bear much fruits. Amen, Hallelujah.
