God’s favor and anointing will come upon your life
🙏Jabez is a character we can all identify in this Covid 19 Pandemic which has brought untold pain. Jabez was birthed in pain, prays in pain, a painful prayer,1Chronicles 4:9-10
🙏 Jabez, is only mentioned briefly in 1 Chronicles 4:9-10. Although we don’t know anything about what he did, we can see that he was desperate and what he prayed was important in God’s eyes, important enough for God to interrupt a long list of genealogies to turn the spotlight on him.
🙏Jabez was a constant reminder of the pain he caused his mother in childbirth. His mother could have had a painful history and gave birth to son in a painful situation and named her baby boy according to the circumstances that surrounded her. In this Covid 19, many mothers gave birth in pain and sad circumstances. Many pregnant mothers have died in this pandemic. Many babies have been orphaned in this lockdown
🙏Only those who have gone through pain knows what pain is and can encourage others to pray this powerful prayer of Jabez who looked up to the Lord and not focused on his pain.
🙏“Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, ‘Because I bore him in pain.’ And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, ‘Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!’ So God granted him what he requested.” 1Chronicles 4:9-10
How can the Jabez prayer renew our hope in this painful covid 19 pandemic?
🙏”GOD GRANTED HIM THAT WHICH HE REQUESTED.”
So what did Jabez request?
To bless him, to enlarge his territory, to have God’s hand upon him, and to keep him from evil.
This is a promise we have, when we are abiding in the Vine, “And we know that if we ask anything according to His will, John 15:7”
🙏Therefore, It is God’s will to bless you, enlarge your territory, have His hand upon you, and keep you from evil, in this lockdown.
🙏Jabez is not known because of anything he did, but because of what he prayed. His prayer may not seem particularly eloquent or unusual and certainly it is not lengthy but a one sentence prayer, and yet it caught God’s ear and produced stunning result.
What was so special about his prayer?
That it is alright to ask God to Bless you and me in this lockdown.
“Oh, that you would bless me indeed!”
That it is alright to ask God to enlarge our vision and area of influence, in this lockdown
“Oh that you would enlarge my territory!”
That it is alright for us to pray for God’s Presence and Power, in this lockdown.
“Oh that your hand would be with me!”
That it is alright to pray to keep us safe in everything, in this lockdown.
“Oh that you would keep me from evil!”
🙏Child of God, Remember this, God’s favor and anointing will come upon your life when you press in to pursue Him and all He has for you. By the power of the Holy Spirit let us be inspired to pray boldly like Jabez to change our destiny and the course of history in this lockdown and Corona Crisis.
🙏Turn this lockdown as an opportunity to enlarge our vision and mission. Let it be a celebration of coming back to God. We are more empowered, equipped, enhanced, enlightened and enriched as New Testament Believers by the Indwelling Holy Spirit, than Jabez, who was in the Old Testament. So let us prayer bold prayers in this lockdown….Amen 🙏
