The cross in Leviticus ✝️

(An Overview )
All the ceremonies and offerings of OT are the shadows and pictures of Jesus Christ. He is present in symbols and signs. 17 of 27 Chapters in Leviticus include portions relating to sacrifices (1-10 ,12 ,14-16,22-24).
👉🏽 As the letter t , which symbolises Cross, is in the centre of Levi t icus ( Levi ✝ icus) , the Cross of Jesus Christ is the focus of Leviticus.

👉🏽 The book of Leviticus can be divided into two parts:

📌 Chapter 18-27 : How to live ❓
This section reveals what God expects us in response ; instructing us in his standard to live holy and sanctified lives ( distinct from the world around us ).

Holiness is a strong theme in Leviticus , and God himself is the standard for his people ( 11: 44-45 ; 19:2 ; 20:26 ) Be holy , because I am holy is His expectation.

🙏 May the good Lord help us to understand His Word , and enables us to walk and live a life worthy of the calling 🛐

Glory to God 🙌

Leviticus, A brief outline:

The name of this book means “pertaining to the Levites”. Exodus and Leviticus were guide books for the priests in their ministry. Israel today has neither priesthood nor temple, so the nation cannot obey these laws
(Hosea 3:4) but Leviticus has great value to the Christian. It illustrates the sacrificial work of Jesus Christ and stresses the importance of a life of separation and obedience.

Jesus Christ in the sacrifices :

Burnt offering: He showed perfect dedication to God. (John 10:17; Romans 5:19; Hebrew 10:10)

Grain offering: He had a perfect character, a fragrance to God.
(Ephesians 5:2) .

Peace offering: He made peace between God and man and between Jew and Gentile. (Romans 5:1; Ephesians 2:14,17; Colossians 1:20) .

Sin offering: He was made sin for us on the cross.
(2Corinthians 5:21,
1Peter 2:24).

Trespass offering: He assumed the debt for our sins and paid it. (Luke 7:36-50)

The book emphasizes sacrifice
(Chapters 1-10) for man must deal with his sins if he expects to have fellowship with a Holy God. These five sacrifices are fulfilled in Jesus Christ and picture His perfect life and atoning work on the cross (Hebrew Ch.10:1-14)

Leviticus also emphasizes separation
(Chapters 11-24) for a redeemed people should walk in God’s holy will. These various laws touch on many aspects of everyday life and illustrate principles of holy living that God’s children should follow today.

Finally, since God anticipated the nation’s entrance into the promised land. He give them some rules for success
(Chapters 25-27). The land was theirs because of God’s covenant, but they could enjoy if only they obeyed God’s will. Obedience by faith always brings blessing.
