Good news in darkness; Fear not, your Saviour is here!

Good news in darkness Luke 2: 8-11

One of the greatest sermon ever preached was delivered by an angel on the First Christmas Night. It was preached not in a temple nor in synagogue but in the open field. The angel of the Lord proclaimed the Good News “โ€ฆ a Saviour has been born to youโ€ฆ“. to the lowly shepherds.

It is significant that this message was delivered at night. It was night not because the sun had gone down but because the world was enshrouded in spiritual and moral gloom.
๐ŸŒš NIGHT IS SCARY AND DANGEROUS but the Lord can turn it into cosy and pleasant.
๐ŸŒš It was night in Egypt when the children of Israel were released from the bondage of Pharaoh.
๐ŸŒš It was night when Samuel discerned the voice of God calling him to be a prophet to God’s people.
๐ŸŒš It was at night that God gave David some of his sweetest psalms.
๐ŸŒš It was night when Paul and Silas prayed and sang praises in the jail.
๐ŸŒš It was night in Bethlehem when Jesus Christ was born.

๐Ÿ’ซ The first Christmas Sermon delivered by the angel can be divided into four parts :
1๏ธโƒฃ FEAR NOT : Before Jesus was born, the world was filled with fear. The Romans feared rebellion and their subjects feared Rome’s power. Even today the world is filled with fear and hatred . The only freedom from fear is Jesus Christ.. So trust in Him.

๐Ÿ™Œ because it revealed that God not only loved the world but he had come to identify with the human race in the person of his Son.
๐Ÿ™Œ it shows that God’s power is greater than the evil .
๐Ÿ™Œ because fear has been replaced by hope ; hatred by love ; bondage by freedom ; guilt by pardon. And joy replaced sadness ; fellowship replaced separation.
๐Ÿ™Œ The greatest news is that Jesus came to save the people from their sins โœ๏ธ

3๏ธโƒฃ TO ALL THE PEOPLE : The good news was not only for the Jews but to all the people.
๐Ÿ“Œ The redemptive work of Jesus Christ is not for a chosen race or a nation but for all the people.

4๏ธโƒฃ FOR YOU , a Saviour is born, he is Christ the Lord :
๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ It is for you that He left the heavenly portals , came to earth and was born.
๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ It is for you that He bore the cross and was crucified on Calvary โœ๏ธ
๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ It is for you that He said , ” FATHER, FORGIVE THEM.. ” โœ๏ธ
๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ It is for you that He cried in his last earthly breath , IT IS FINISHED โœ๏ธ
๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ It is for you that He rose from the dead โœ๏ธ

๐Ÿ“Œ Yes , it is for you and me ” Christ was born “.
๐Ÿ“Œ The Night , when Christ was born, has indeed change the World History.

Fear not, your Saviour is here!

Then the angel said to them, โ€œDo not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:10โ€“11

My friend, if all is silent and dark in your life now, and you feel like you have been left out in the cold, just know that Jesus came to be your Saviour at such a time as this.

He was not born in the comfort of a warm, cozy room, but in a cold manger. There was no room for Him in the inn (see Luke 2:7), so that there will always be room at the cross for your healing, deliverance, wholeness and provision, and a mansion in heaven waiting for you!

Jesus was born very quietly, so quietly that the Bible says that only a group of shepherds came to Him, while the rest of Bethlehem slept (see Luke 2:8โ€“9). Like manna falling quietly from heaven in the Old Testament, the true bread from heaven came quietly. It was a silent night, but that was not all.

Jesus was also born during the darkest time in Israelโ€™s history. Israel was under the tyrannical rule of the Romans. It was during this time, when everything was so dark, that Jesus was born. Beloved, He will come to you in the darkest period of your life.

On that cold and silent night, the shepherds were afraid when the angel of the Lord stood before them. But the angel said, โ€œDo not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord.โ€

Beloved, it was not a judge or lawgiver who was born. It was a mighty Saviour. He came to save His people. He came to save you and me. So even if you are in a cold, dark period of your life, donโ€™t be afraidโ€”the Saviour has come and He will save you to the uttermost!
