One generation shall praise Your works to another

Psalm 145:3 “Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; And His greatness is unsearchable. One generation shall praise Your works to another, And shall declare Your mighty acts.”

This “psalm of praise” is David’s final psalm. David speaking from his experience, recounts God’s goodness and faithfulness in this overwhelming expression of praise.

Verse 3 seems to be a summary of the theme of this entire Psalm: Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and His greatness is unsearchable.

It presents three complementary thoughts

1) Great is the Lord.
2) the Lord is highly to be praised and
3) the Lord’s greatness is unsearchable.

What we know about God is confined to our small brains, our limited experiences, our willingness to read about the great deeds of God in Scripture, and our hearing of his incredible work through the lives of older Christians.

But …..
David challenges us through this psalm to search out God’s greatness, assuring us that God is so immense, we will never be able to discover His full magnitude.

If someone ask us, “What is the meaning of the greatness of our God?”
I say, “Incomprehensible.” (means not able to be understood;)
Again, He is incorruptible. (means, everlasting)
That is why He is great. Everything else in life is corruptible. It is falling apart-including all of us.
David was overwhelmed when he thought of God’s goodness, and amazed at the bounty of His blessings.
He became conscious of how insignificant he was.

Let’s ask ourselves,
“Who am I, and who are my people, that we could give anything to you?

Everything we have has come from you, and we give you only what you have already given us!”
God is interested in token appreciation.
He is concerned about our hearts.
Not superficially ….. but our entire relationship with Him.

Each of us must have some moments in our lives* ……
Time to reflect.
Time to think about all we owe to God.

How easily we can forget about Him and become busy and distracted.

How easily we can take Him for granted.

But David gave us the right perspective, an attitude we should imitate.

Today, think about all that God has given you!

Think about His protection. His provisions. His forgiveness.
……… Eternal life!!!!!!
Thank Him.
Praise Him.
Commit our life to Him.
Humble ourselves before Him in a spirit of adoration and worship.
FOR HE IS WORTHY OF ALL PRAISE!
