Downfall of Solomon ๐Ÿ’ƒ

Solomon was a man of artistic taste. Women from every nation have special habits, talents and beauty. This made him love MANY foreign women. He married and loved women from Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians and Hittites.

The Lord had told the Israelites they must not intermarry with them as they would turn their hearts to their gods. The Bible says that Solomon held fast to these women in love (1 Kings 11:2). And he disobeyed God in this matter.

Wonder whether it was love intermingled with lust that made him marry 700 wives of royal birth. Added to these women he had 300 concubines. The king who built the magnificent temple for the Lord slowly slipped away from Him.

His foreign wives led him astray. The wisest king had to dance to the tunes of his NUMEROUS wives. What a great shame and scandal it would have caused among the Israelites!

Solomon had to build high places for the gods of Moab and Ammonites. He had to do the same for ALL his foreign wives who burned incense to their gods. As Solomon advanced in age, his wives made him follow their gods.

๐Ÿ“– So the Lord said to Solomon, โ€œSince this is your attitude and you have not kept my covenant and my decrees, which I commanded you, I will most certainly tear the kingdom away from you and give it to one of your subordinates (1 Kings 11:11).

Solomonโ€™s attitude changed drastically that numbed his common sense. His behavior was erratic and he would have been the laughing stock of people all over the world. Wonder whether he was the only man to have 1000 women in his life? The glorious start of Solomon ended in a pathetic note.

Dear ones in Christ, we have to be careful in every area of our life lest we are entrapped in worldly enticements. Different people have different weaknesses. Some may even fall for praise. They get puffed up with pride when they are praised. Ultimately they became haughty and think great about themselves.

๐Ÿ“– Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8).

Let us stay alert to the tricks of the evil one lest we turn astray from serving and loving God.

God bless us to be channels of blessings.
