Samuel is resigning the government to Saul
1 Samuel 12:28 “But be sure to fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you.””
In this chapter, Samuel is resigning the government to Saul.
He served Israel as a judge, a prophet of God.
It was also a farewell speech from Samuel, who was stepping down as Israel’s judge.
It was time. Samuel was “old and gray” and the Israelites wanted a different leader.
In the above verse, Samuel issued three statements that would prove to them the LORD was their priority.
One, they were to stand in reverential awe of Him;
Two, They should serve God, faithfully.
Three, they were to carefully observe all of the things He has abundantly bestowed upon them.
Indeed, God did great things to them, but soon they forgot and lived as per their fleshly desires.
Even in all of our lives, God has done a great thing!
What is it?
He sent His only son as a sacrifice for us, so that we can be saved from the curse of sin and death.
God showered His unconditional love for each one of us.
So………..
Always be honest, and always be sincere;
………. with all your heart –
Not merely from an attitude of duty, but also from a reverent, affectionate sense of responsibility.
