Give me wisdom and knowledge

2 Chronicles Chapter 1

The God of the Bible often asks question to the different class of people at different interval of time and period. Some of the prominent figures to whom the Lord asked questions were : Adam (Where are you โ“); Cain (Where is your brother โ“) ; Elijah (What are you doing here โ“). We can draw some spiritual insights from these questions pertaining to the World Evangelism and our personal involvement .

๐Ÿ“ In today’s reading passage, God asked Solomon, “What do you want from me or Ask for whatever you want me to give you ? “(v 7).
Solomon replied, “Give me wisdom and knowledge so that I may lead the Israelitesโ€ฆ”(v 10) .

WHAT A GREAT THOUGHT AND DESIRE โ“
Solomon was motivated by the needs of the nation with which God has entrusted him. Literally Solomon sought God’s Kingdom first, and God gave him Wisdom and Knowledge and added all other things (Wealth, Richness, Name and Honor) ๐Ÿ“• 2Chron 1:11-13; Mat 6:33

Solomon began his administration in humility. He said, “O Lord my God, you have made your servant king in place of my father David. But I am only a little child and do not know how to CARRY OUT MY DUTIES”. ๐Ÿ“• 1Kings 3:7

๐Ÿ“ God gave Solomon wisdom and very great insight and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the sand on the seashores. God blessed Solomon, and he took seven years in building the Temple.๐Ÿ“• 1Kings 4:29-34; 6:37-38

โœ๐Ÿป Let us explore the scriptures (benefits of wisdom and knowledge) to find out some of the significant facts about Solomon’s administration (a comparison with his father David):

๐Ÿ“Œ Like his father, Solomon begins his reign with an act of piety.
David’s piety was directed towards the Ark in KIRIATH JEARIM (1Chron 13:5)
Solomon’s piety was directed towards the Altar at GIBEON (2Chron 1:3)

๐Ÿ“Œ David at Kiriath Jearim – God was not happy because of irreverent act of Uzzah ๐Ÿ“• 1Chron 13:9-10
Solomon at Gibeon – God was pleased and gave him a double blessing ๐Ÿ“• 2Chron 1:11-12

๐Ÿ“Œ David, the man of war, was blessed with MILITARY MIGHT that he used to conquer Jerusalem – his first accomplishment as king ๐Ÿ“• 2Sam 5:6-7
Solomon, the man of peace, is blessed with WEALTH that he uses to construct the Temple in Jerusalem – his first accomplishment as king ๐Ÿ“• 2Chron 2-4

๐Ÿ’ž Beloved Church, Solomon’s Request is a model for us. Jesus extended the same offer to us : “Ask and it will be given to you “. Come into His presence with a contrite heart and lay down your request ๐Ÿ›
