I will hear from heaven

2 Chronicles 7:14 “if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

Here we see that Solomon offered a prayer asking for God to remember His promises to the people, to hear and forgive the people, and to protect the people from crime, war, and enemy attacks, and the land from famine and drought.

So verse 14 comes as God’s reply to Solomon, and He instructs Solomon on what is required for forgiveness for the people and for healing of the land.

The people needed to:
1) humble themselves before God;
2) pray for forgiveness;
3) continually seek God; and
4) turn from sinful behavior.
…………….. then I will hear from heaven.

HE HEARS FROM HEAVEN.
I love the line in this scripture where God says, “I will hear from heaven.”
How comforting to know that when we pray, God hears us from heaven!
He is listening
.But……..
before that line, this verse tells us some of the ways that we are supposed to approach God with our prayers.

1. HUMBLE YOURSELVES
The word humble means to be in submission, to live in a state of surrender.

When we humble ourselves, we are literally saying to God, that we are but made from dust and you are in control of my life.

  1. PRAY
    There is tremendous power in prayer.
    We pray so that we can bring up our special needs before Him.

2 Chronicles 7:13 mentioned three special needs: drought, insect invasion and disease among God’s people.

Most people today do not understand there is a connection between the weather, animal behavior, health and God.

Today, We are facing a global pandemic, racial injustice, and an economic crisis.

Why would we not pray and ask for what we need?
The third condition is

  1. SEEK MY FACE
    What does it mean to seek?
    Seeking the Lord means to desire or search for His presence.
    Face to face. A personal relationship. Looking into each other’s eyes.
    Being face to face denotes an intimacy.

We may be overwhelmed by financial needs or conflicts in our relationships.
We may have health issues or face pressures on a job.
We may be worried about friends and family.
Or we may have spiritual struggles.

Whatever it is………….

LOOK IN TO HIS EYES
Come humbly before Him in true repentance.

Our humble hearts and obedience removes any obstacle keeping us from successful prayers.
