There is nothing greater in life than knowing God

2 Chronicles 29:11 “My sons, do not be negligent now, for the LORD has chosen you to stand before Him, to minister to Him, and to be His ministers and burn incense.”

King Hezekiah was one of the great kings of Judah.
He was the fourteenth king of Judah, and reigned in Jerusalem for some 40 years.

This chapter begins with the good reign of Hezekiah.

As soon as Hezekiah became King in Jerusalem, he made sure the doors of God’s house were reopened for worship.

Remember, the temple had been closed by Ahaz.
So Hezekiah opened the doors of the Temple and repaired them.

Then Hezekiah told the Levites to consecrate themselves and to begin to cleanse the temple of the idolatry that was brought into it by Ahaz.

He reminded them of the wicked acts of Ahaz & Judah and of the consequences they suffered for turning their backs on the LORD.

The people gathered to worship God as He had commanded.
The worship began, music played, the king, rulers, and the people bowed in worship.

2 Chronicles 29:11 says, God had chosen His people “to stand before Him and serve Him, to minister before Him and burn incense.”

It had been a long time since God’s people did this.

We face similar pressures today.
We live in a world that tempts us to abandon corporate worship and walk away from our faith.

We have a privilege that others do not have: to live by faith.
Often we take the privilege of worship too lightly.
We get too chummy with God, or try to bring Him down to our level.

Paul reminds us that worship is a privilege for those whose hearts are truly open before God.

Worship is not an obligation. We should come before God with joy and eager to worship HIm.

Don’t stand in front of God, by thinking what’s for lunch.

Why do fewer and fewer people go to church in the free Western world with its rich Christian heritage?

What is going on?!!!

There is nothing greater in life than knowing God and His Son, Jesus Christ.

What a privilege that we, sinful people can appear before God in holy worship!!!!

What an awesome privilege we have been given to know God!!!

So… Let us come near ……..
with a true heart,
in full assurance of faith,
having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and
our bodies washed with pure water.
