Prepare our heart

Ezra 7:10 “For Ezra had set his heart to study the Law of the Lord, and to do it and to teach his statutes and rules in Israel.”

Ezra was a member of the priestly family of Aaron.
He was a great scholar and scribe, religious leader, and reformer.

He was an outstanding figure not merely among his brethren, but also in the court of Artachshashta.

Ezra was prepared and qualified to face any challenges in life.
How did he possess a great knowledge and understanding of the Law?
Because …………
…….. EZRA PREPARED HIS HEART TO DO THREE THINGS.
He set his heart to pray and study the word of God.

The Bible is not an ordinary book. The words within its pages are like medicine to our soul. It has the power to change our life because there is life in the Word!

So no matter where we are in our walk with God, start spending time in His Word and be determined to stick with it!

Prepare our heart.
Make it a top priority in our life to study God’s Word because there is power in it to change our life and help us become the person God us to be.
He applied the Scripture to his own lives.
Not only did he possess a great knowledge and understanding of the Law but you could see the reflection in his everyday life.
Ezra lived according to what he studied and read.
Practicing what we preach is not easy because of our sin nature.

We, Christians, need to do more than just talking.
Jesus warns us in Matthew 5:20 – “For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.”

He was ready to teach his statutes and rules in Israel.
The best way to learn something is to teach it.
Ezra was able to teach it effectively because he understood it and what it took to live it.

What about us?
Have we set our hearts to study God’s word?
Have we set our hearts to live it and take the things we learn and use it to reflect

Christ in our lives?
Have we set our hearts to teach others what we have found to be invaluable through
Jesus Christ?
Let’s be encouraged by Ezra and set our hearts to study God’s word, to strive to live it, and share with others the good news of Jesus Christ.
