Boaz – the redeemer

📕 Ruth 4 : 1-12
BOAZ – THE REDEEMER

The nearest kinsman-redeemer scuttles off, frightened away by the personal costs of restoring Naomi and Ruth to their property and social standing ( v 8 ). In contrast, Boaz doesn’t hesitate to purchase Naomi’s land or to marry Ruth. He made an official declaration, witnessed by the elders, that he had acquired the land and Ruth as his wife ( v 9 )

💫 Boaz’s sacrificial actions foreshadowed Jesus’ behaviour as our Redeemer
❣️ the One who fully pays the cost for our sin,
❣️ the One who adopts us into his family and
❣️ the One who bestows on us eternal security.

💫 Just as Boaz fulfilled his promise to Ruth in the fields of Bethlehem, so God has fulfilled his promises to Abraham and proclaimed it through the angels in the fields of Bethlehem where the Saviour of all was born.

🌈 The Lord who visited Bethlehem with bread during Ruth’s time ( 1:6 ) has now visited the world with the BREAD of LIFE ( Jesus Christ ) who was born in Bethlehem.

💞 Beloved Church , are we thankful enough for God’s provision in Christ that we are willing to sacrifice for the redemption for others who are in spiritual and physical need – even at great cost to ourselves ( Col 1:24 ).
Let us be proactive and be determined to make the most of every opportunity to connect with those whom God brings along the pathway of our pilgrimage 👣

Glory to God 🙌
