Feast and Go
At Christmas we remember Jesus the Bread of Life, born in Bethlehem (the House of Bread), laid in a manger.
God sent a star and angels to proclaim that His Feast was being made ready, and soon the Table of Grace would be open for all to feast at. Spread out on His Buffet are:
šlove to fill our need,
šgrace to humble pride,
štruth to straighten crooked thinking,
šdiscipline to smoothen the rough edges of our personalitiesā¦
so that the marred image of His Glory might be restored in us.
But sadly, God is compelled to say:
šI am the LORD your God, who brought you up out of the (kingdom of darkness) . Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.
š But My people did not listen to My voice; My people would not submit to Me. So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts, to follow their own counsels.
[Rf Psa 81:10-12]
š„ If you reject God’s teaching, you will pay the price;
š„ if you obey His commands, you will be rewarded.
ā² The Law of the Wise is a life-giving fountain that helps you escape all deadly traps.
[Pro 13:13-14 CEV]
There is only One Wise Being in the whole Universe, and that is God.
[Rom 16:27, Rom 11:33, Col 2:3[
š How silly we are to think that we can manage without God.
Do you remember teaching your toddler to tie shoe-laces? They say, āI can do, I can doā ā¦BUTā¦ end up tying knots in the laces, which requires much patience on the parentās part to undo. And we are like that. The Cross points to Godās patience in undoing our knots.
Those who respond to Godās call to the Banquet of Wisdom & Grace, testify:
š Your words were found, and I ate them,
š and your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart, ā¦
[Jer 15:16 ESV]
šÆ Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.
Godās words of Grace & Mercy, roll away the burden of guilt, shame, fear, depressionā¦ and envelop us with a sense of well-being and strength (even though our bodies may be displaying age-decay)
[Pro 16:24, Ps 119:103]
Those who partake of Godās Table of Grace, become Godās living streams, His faithful, reliable, trustworthy, and wise messengers, bringing healing wherever they go.
[Rf Pro 13:17b, Ezk 47:1-12, Rev 22:1-2]
Abba Father, forgive me for all the times when I have chosen to lean on my own wisdom. Help me to hear You and speak Your heart. Anoint Your Church afresh to be faithful messengers who feast on Your Grace and Truth, and go out to be living streams of truth & love, bringing healing across the world. In Jesus Name. Amen.
