David’s Longing ♥️

God lifted David from all his opponents and he was the king of Israel. He had a nice kingdom to reign, a lovely family with children and he lived in a grand house of cedars. He was enjoying life to the fullest with bountiful blessings. The Ark of the Lord was brought to the City of David. But still something was going on in David’s heart.

📖 After David was settled in his palace, he said to Nathan the prophet, “Here I am, living in a house of cedar, while the ark of the covenant of the Lord is under a tent.” Nathan replied to David, “Whatever you have in mind, do it, for God is with you.” (1 Chron 17:1‭-‬2 NIV).

The heart of David yearned for God. He was concerned that the ark of the Lord was in tents while he was enjoying the comforts of life. He immediately made his concerns known to Nathan the prophet. And the word of the Lord came to Nathan that night regarding what David had discussed with him.

Dear Ones in Christ, when all is well in life what do we think, plan and say? Do we seek God and His kingdom when our life is settled comfortably? When God blesses us what we do, say and think matters. Are we still concerned about God and His kingdom? Or do we start indulging in His blessings?

God has chosen each of us with a definite plan and for a specifc purpose. Whatever be our status we have to fulfill His plan and purposes in our lives and through our lives. The earthly blessings should not become a stumbling block for our heavenly calling.

With this in mind Paul wrote:
📖 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth (Col 3:1, 2).

Let our heart and mind be on Christ and not on things of the earth. Though we are in this world we are to live as if we are not of this world. God bless us to remain focused on Him and set our mind on things above.
