♣️ The Conclusion ♣️

Previously we have seen how Ahab was introduced in the Bible. It is sad to see how degrading Ahab had become. The Bible further proceeds to describe him as a sullen and displeased man (1 Kings 20:43). It is unlike for a man to sulk and get angry repeatedly.

Ahab missed doing God’s will; God revealed his future to him through a prophet. And Ahab became angry and sulky. What is our reaction when something unpleasant happens in our life? How do we respond to rebukes?

Ahab next wanted Naboth’s vineyeard. When his wish was refused he again became sullen and displeased (1 Kings 21:4). Ahab fretted and fumed when he could not have his own way. He was indeed a spoilt, silly man. His unhappiness resulted in the death of an innocent man.

When Ahab went to take possession of Naboth’s vineyeard, the word of the Lord came to Elijah and the Bible describes Ahab as a person who sold yourself to do evil in the sight of the LORD (1 Kings 21:20, 25). He was stirred by his wicked wife Jezebel. Ahab was a puppet in the hands of his wife. He danced to her tunes.

📖 But there was no one like Ahab who sold himself to do wickedness in the sight of the LORD, because Jezebel his wife stirred him up (1 Kings 21:25).

Ahab was keen on doing evil in the sight of the Lord. He provoked the Lord to anger. Ahab misled the Israelites to sin against the Lord. His wife instead of correcting his erring ways, made him do more wickedness. In fact his wife stirred and urged him to sin against God. Wives do you instigate your husband to do something wicked and wrong in God’s sight?

Dear Ones in Christ, it is important we concentrate and focus on doing what God likes and wants. Never spent your time and energy in scheming against someone you dislike.

Let the word of God dwell in us richly. Let His word take deep root in us. Let His word drive out and cleanse us from all bitterness and ill feelings.
