Attributes of David

  1. He does the will of God

1 Samuel 23: 2
Therefore David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And the LORD said unto David, Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah.

David always takes the counsels from God. It shows the spirit of prayer. We should be always praying unto God in every situation of life. We should develop a spirit of prayer and seek His will.

  1. He gave reverence to the anointed

1 Samuel 24: 10
…….. I said, I will not put forth mine hand against my lord; for he is the LORD’S anointed.

Two times David got an opportunity to kill Saul. He spared him because of the only reason, “he was anointed by God”
Often we speak against the anointed when they do mistakes. We should stop speaking against the servants of God. God is the righteous judge.

  1. He humbled himself

1 Samuel 24: 14
After whom is the king of Israel come out? after whom dost thou pursue? after a dead dog, after a flea.

David very well knew that Saul sought to kill him because he was the successor of his throne. He didn’t use haughty words. He said I am a “dead dog”
When our higher authorities are harassing us how do we respond to them, in turn we should not exchange our words not should we boast ourselves.

1 Samuel 25: 33
And blessed be thy advice, and blessed be thou, which hast kept me this day from coming to shed blood, and from avenging myself with mine own hand.
Secondly because of his humble character when Abigail pleaded him to save her husband Nabal, he gave heed to her words and spared Nabal. Had he killed Nabal forgetting his future as a king, he would have lost the throne.
We should understand that our humility will promote us to next level.

Stay Blessed 😊
