“He began to wash disciple’s feet.”

The Lord Jesus loves His people so much.
He is doing for them much that is analogous to wash their soiled feet.

Their poorest actions He accepts.
Their deepest sorrow He feels.
Their slenderest wish He hears.
Their every transgression He forgives.
He is still their servant as well as their friend and Master.
He performs majestic deeds for them.
He went among the people with the basin and towel.
He does this when He puts away from us day by day our constant infirmities and sins.

Jesus will have patience with us.
He will hear our confession of sins.
He will say ,”I will cleanse you ” He will again apply the sprinkling blood and speaks peace to our conscience and remove every spot.

It is a great act of Eternal Love.
We find comfort and peace in our Lord ‘s daily cleansing.

John 13:14-15

Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one anotherโ€™s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.”

We understand the deeper meaning of Jesus’ act of servanthood. Jesus explains His action when he says, “I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.”

What a difference it will make in our lives if we continually have the mindset that we are here to serve each other!!!

The key is to serve each other without thought of reward and without keeping score.

Philippians 2: 3-5 says,”Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus.”

If we want to become effective disciples and disciple makers, then our lives and our relationships must be characterized by love, and the best way to belong is to be a servant of Christ.
