They came to seek the Lord 2 Chron. 20:1-20

Jehoshaphat was threatened by a powerful alliance of Moab, Ammon and Edom. Consequently there was fear He resolved to inquire of the Lord and he proclaimed a fast for all Judah Ps 118:9 says it is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in princes

Jehoshaphat prays putting his trust in the Lord.

1 Absolute sovereignty of God vs6 O Lord God of our fathers …you rule over all the kingdom …power and might are in your hand…

2 What God had done for Israel in the past vs7
…?Did you not drive out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel and give it forever to the descendants of Abraham

3 The promises of God vs 8,9
If calamity comes upon us,…will cry out to you in distress and you will hear us and save us

4That Israel was God’s inheritance vs11
See how they ( Ammon,Moab)are repaying us by coming to drive us out of the possession You gave us as an inheritance
..
5 Their utter weakness vs 12
….. For we have no power to face the vast army

6 Their utter lack of wisdom vs 12
We donot know what to do

7 Their utter dependance on God vs12
… Our eyes are upon You

God responded to that prayer through a prophet Don’t be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours but God’s

Then the king fell down in worship before the Lord. Some levites sang praises to the Lord. Jehoshapat sent the singers into the battle in front of the soldiers and they were praising the Lord. The Lord defeated all of Judah ‘s enemies Allies quarrelled and Judah was saved Judah also became wealthy through all the wealth they got from their enemies.

Deliverance comes in unexpected ways to those who pray.
