How long David waited to be a King?

How well are we going to wait in this Corona Lockdown is a question we got to ask as we study how long David waited to be a King?… 2Samuel 2:1-7

👑In this lockdown some of us are struggling to read a chapter or a verse or a five minute insight because we don’t have the time to wait long enough to do these things. We become restless because there are other things crying for our attention. How can we wait upon the Lord when we have no time to wait. God is waiting for us to wait upon Him. We don’t have to pay any waiting charge for God waiting for us. I have payed waiting charge for my taxi, if I was late to get back. But, God our Elohim has been waiting for us to call upon Him, to seek Him, to cry out to Him and to wait upon Him.

👑We are given ample time to wait upon God this Lockdown and another major lockdown is a possibility, I am told, as there are talks going on. Wait mean wait, that doesn’t mean to sit at home doing nothing, it means to abide in the secret place 24/7 listening, watching and waiting to hear and be guided into your destiny and purpose. When we study the life of David, we will find that, he spent a great deal of his time waiting.

👑David had to wait something like 15 years from the time he was first anointed by Samuel to the time he became king over Judah, 1 Samuel 2:1-7. It was another seven years before David was anointed king over all Israel. Which means David waited over 20 years of his life to be made king.

My dear Child of God, Remember this, David had been anointed king at the tender age of 17, but only sat on the throne at the age of 30. That is a long wait. What are some of the lessons we can learn from David on how he handled this 20 years of delay in our lockdown situation to help us wait upon the Lord?

  1. 👑When God gives us a promise, he will introduce a Goliath before we are promoted. He will bring a Saul in our path. He will put us through several training grounds to make us ready. God will not bypass the process to the promise.
  2. 👑David learnt in his boot camp, how to handle a crisis, how to love his enemies, honor authority, do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with his God. Nothing is wasted in God’s economy.
  3. 👑David had the opportunity to grasp the crown from King Saul in 1 Samuel 24, the moment that Saul was vulnerable to be attack, and his friends urged David to kill him but, David did not. David waited for God’s appointed time and didn’t do anything against the Lord’s anointed prematurely
  4. 👑David’s time as a shepherd boy taught him how to fight the wild beasts to prepare him for his epic battle with Goliath, his time leading a bunch of depressed and desperate men while trying to avoid death hiding in the Cave of Adullam, taught him how to fight his inner battles with his, weakness, ego and lead well. He learned how to truly rely on God in an amazing way. And that is how God trained David from a Shepherd to a Star from an ordinary to be such an extraordinary king

👑Just as how David learnt to stretch his bow and arrow, God was stretching him further and further backwards in the bow, ready to be catapulted ahead with great power and the presence of God to be a king but also to write the Psalms that is comforting today. Our lockdown waiting on the Lord will not be wasted, God is using it as an arrow in His hands to stretch us to shoot us further into our The arrow was being stretched further and further backwards in the bow, ready to be catapulted ahead with great power to our destiny…Amen🙏
