God uses the broken hearts 💔

Amos Chapter 9
“📖In that day I will restore … I will repair its broken places, restore its ruins, and build it as it used to be…declares the LORD, who will do these things.” Amos 9:11-12

God uses the broken things

I. GOD USED A BROKEN COVENANT
👉 Moses took the two tablets and threw them out of his hands, breaking them to pieces before their eyes. Deut. 9:15-17.
👉What a tragic day.
👉 God had brought them such a long way: through 10 plagues, delivered them from Egypt, through the Red Sea, across the wilderness, to great revelations of God – and STILL they turned back to idolatry!
👉It should be a lesson to us of** how prone our hearts are to wander!**
👉 But this gives us greater reason to thank God for His remedy – the Indwelling Holy Spirit!

What the Law could not do because of the weakness of the flesh – God did through Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Rom. 8:1-2.

We can’t think of a better place for God to write His Word than on our hearts!

II. GOD USED BROKEN BRANCHES
👉 God spoke of the Israelites collectively in the metaphor of an Olive tree and individually as the branches of that tree. Ezek. 31:9-18
👉 Though many of its branches (individual Israelites) were broken off, the “stump” of Israel remained (Isa. 6:13; 11:1).
👉 God loves His people and if even one is saved, heaven rejoices.

III. GOD USES BROKEN PEOPLE
A. JACOB
👳‍♂️ Jacob was a conniver and a deceiver; a liar and a trickster, but God saw some good in Jacob.
👳‍♂️ Jacob the convict was stripped of his criminal mind and it was replaced with the mind of Christ!
👳‍♂️ This encounter completed the work of purification and grace God had been trying to do in him all his life.

B. MARY, ANOINTING JESUS Jn. 12:2; Mk. 14:3
🧕She sat at Jesus’ feet and listened attentively to every word that fell from the Teacher’s lips and was commended for having “chosen that better part.”
🧕After Lazarus’ resurrection, her love and faith revived.
🧕The breaking of the alabaster jar full of precious ointment was a symbol of a heart broken, pouring out praise and thankfulness to the Lord.

♥️ LIFE LESSONS

GOD WANTS TO USE US
💥 Sometimes God allows tragedy to bring us close to Him.
💥 God took a tragedy – His rejection by an entire nation – and turned it to something good: the salvation of all who will believe in Christ.
💥 Thank God He’s able to use broken things for good!
💥 If we hold on to the Lord during our trial and don’t let go, eventually God will turn our desert into a well-watered garden that will bless many people and ourselves as well!

SHALL WE GET CLOSER TO THE LORD– AND SURRENDER ALL TO HIM❓

Yet not the smallest grain shall fall to the ground

Amos 9:9. For surely l will command and swift the house of Israel among all nations, as grain is swifted in a sieve. Yet, not the smallest grain shall fall to the ground.

  1. Here God is telling that He will swift the house of lsrael in a sieve. What is it’s purpose? To seperate the chaff and the grain. That means He will seperate the sinners from the children of God.
  2. He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire . Yes, the sinners will be punished like this. But He will not allow any grain to fall to the ground but He will gather His wheat into His barn.
  3. Wheat is a grain. It shows the blessing of a country. It is mentioned as the goodness of the Lord. Jeremiah 31: 12. lt feeds the people .lt was used for the meal offering. This unleavened flour was used in passover feast. Mathew 3: 12 says, He will gather His wheat, or the repented souls into His barn
Unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone. but if it dies, it produces much grain. Yes , we should be like these grain leaving away our selfishness, like l , Me, , mine etc and live not for us but live for others and also for the glory of God , so that we can gather many souls in His barn.
  4. To cultivate wheat grains , our heart which is the soil should be prepared with the word of God. We should unite with the yoke of Jesus and should prepare the soil, our heart . The soil should be supplied by the water, from the fountain of Holy Spirit. We should sow the seed of wheat which is the word of God . After the harvest it should be swifted to seperate the chaff to be burned. But the grain of wheat is the finest and it will feed many.

Yes, not the smallest grain shall fall to the ground. We are these grains . Let us prepare ourselves as the finest grain so that ,when we are swifted, we will become the finest grain of wheat, to feed many. May God bless each one of us like these grains. Amen. Hallelujah.
