People’s reaction to God’s Word
๐Ÿ“– Isaiah 30:8-11

The Lord commands Isaiah to make a record of the people’s attitudes towards God’s instruction which will be a reminder and a witness against them ( v 8 ). They were rebellious people , deceitful children who were UNWILLING TO LISTEN TO THE LORD’S INSTRUCTION (v 9).

Isaiah’s listeners were tired of hearing counsel that was contrary to their lifestyle and likeness. Not only have they refused to heed His instruction regarding having alliance with Egypt , but they have also commanded the Seers and Prophets to :
๐Ÿ“Œ Stop seeing visions ( v 10a )
๐Ÿ“Œ Stop telling them what is right and true ( v 10b )
๐Ÿ“Œ But tell them what they wanted to hear : only pleasant things and illusions ( v10c ) .

But when Isaiah stood firm with God’s message and instructions, the people simply ordered him :
๐Ÿ“Œ to get out of the way( v 11a )
๐Ÿ“Œ to stop confronting them with the Holy One of Israel ( v 11b ).

๐Ÿ’ž Beloved Church, today some Christians are not very different from those to whom Isaiah had preached . They like to hear the pleasant things @ jokes, illusions . They dismiss those who confront them with the truth.
๐Ÿ™ Most of our brethrens, the place from where I belongs to , do not like to listen to the sermon on Christian Giving.

๐Ÿ“ Paul writes in 2Tim 4: 3-4 ~
โœ’๏ธ For the time will come when men will not put up with the sound doctrine..
โœ’๏ธ Instead , to suit their own desires , they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear๐Ÿ‘‚
โœ’๏ธ They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths

HOW WOULD YOU ( as a preacher ) CONFRONT WITH THIS CHALLENGE โ“

๐Ÿ“ Paul, while writing to the church at Galatia , says that he is not at all interested to win the approval of men nor to please them through his ministry of teaching and preaching. He seeks God’s approval, and he long to please Him always ( 1:10 )

๐Ÿ“Œ Do not compromise. Like Ezra , be a sincere student of God’s Word , and be prepared in season and out of season to preach the Word : to correct, rebuke and encourage ( Ezra 7:10; 2Tim 4:2 )
