Why did Jesus choose Philip?

John 6:5 “When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, “Where are we to buy bread for these people to eat?

In this chapter St: John is recording a very familiar miracle, “feeding of the five thousand”, which is recorded in all four Gospels.

When Jesus faced a hungry crowd of thousands, He said to Philip, “Where are we to buy bread for these people to eat?”

Why did Jesus choose Philip?

Jesus might be testing Philip, because Jesus knew that Philip could not possibly answer His question
Philip doesn’t give a solution where they can buy food. Rather, he explains to Jesus how expensive it would be to buy bread for them all

Although Philip’s assessment of the size of the problem was accurate, his assessment of the supernatural power of Jesus was not.

Jesus’ question had no human solution before Philip;

Has that ever happened to us?

We may be facing a difficult, unpleasant, or embarrassing situation, where we can’t find no answer in the normal resources of human life.

As Philip gave up in despair, we may also give up sometimes, because there is no way our problems could be met.

Here Philip failed to recognize the power of Jesus to do the impossible.

It’s very important to Trust the Power of Jesus in a situation of impossibility.

Do we trust that there is nothing impossible for the Lord to do in our life?

Here it reveals the heart of God, who cares about our every need.

God can use our small resources to meet people’s needs.
God also expects us to come to the help of one another, and to share what little we have.
