Ehud – The mighty deliverer

๐Ÿ“– Judges 3:12–30
EHUD – THE MIGHTY DELIVERER
(Overcoming the Feelings of Inadequacy)

The above passage begins with a remark : “The Israelites were subject to Eglon, king of Moab for 18 years” ( v 14 ) and ends with an interesting note : “Moab was made subject to Israel for 80 years ” ( v 30 ).

๐Ÿ“ The history of Israel is repeated with the phrase : ” Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lordโ€ฆ and the Lord punished them with the hands of pagan nations “.

๐Ÿ“ In today’s passage the Israelites were under the rule of Moab for 18 years , and when they cried out to the Lord, He send them a deliverer – Ehud a Benjamite ( @ Benjamin means son of the right hand โœ’ Gen 35:18 ) . But Ehud , a left – handed man , was hindered with his right hand ; had some physical limitation and might have a feelings of inadequacy.

๐Ÿ“Œ It is said that people in the days of Judges believed that anyone born with a physical handicap was untrustworthy. But Ehud used his handicap to his own advantage for the glory of the Lord and he delivered Israel from the hands of the enemies, and as result the nation had peace for 80 years ๐Ÿ™Œ

๐Ÿ“Œ Lessons from Ehudon Overcoming the Feelings of Inadequacy” to fully realise our God given potential :

๐Ÿ”– Ehud , a left handed man , knew that God never makes a mistake in creating us just as we are .

๐Ÿ”– He knew that God had allowed him to have a handicap for special occasions. He did not doubt God’s ability to turn a DISADVANTAGE into an ADVANTAGE for the Lord’s purpose.

๐Ÿ”– He was a man of wisdom, courage with a strategic plan ( “. took the double edged sword .. and strapped it to his right thigh.. and said that he had a secret message..and locked the door “)

๐Ÿ”– Ehud led by example : When he went out into the battle he cried out Follow Me ( v 28 )

๐Ÿ”– He was a spiritually committed man who trusted in the Lord and not in himself ( He ordered, “the Lord has given Moab, your enemy , into your hands ” v 28)
