Peter’s love for the Lord

( “โ€ฆ they took Jesus into the house of the high priest. Peter followed himโ€ฆ.” ๐Ÿ“ Luke 22:54 )

Simon Peter, whom Jesus called him, is known to have a Big Mouth, a man of action, courage and strength. He is popularly known as THE ONE WHO DENY JESUS. But we often forget to quote him as THE ONE WHO LOVE JESUS through his words and deeds. Let us explore the scriptures:

1๏ธโƒฃ When many disciples were deserting Jesus : Jesus asked the 12 disciples , “You do not want to leave too , do you ” ๐Ÿ“ John 6:66-67
Peter answered , “Lord to whom shall we go ? You have the words of eternal life..” ๐Ÿ“ John 6:68 ( PETER’S ENDURING LOVE )

2๏ธโƒฃ Once when Jesus was predicting His death, Peter rebuked Him and said , “This shall never happen to you ” ๐Ÿ“ Mat 16:21-22 ( PETER’S CARING LOVE )

3๏ธโƒฃ When Jesus was arrested Peter took the sword and cut off Malchus’s ear ๐Ÿ“John 18:10 ( PETER’S PROTECTIVE LOVE )

4๏ธโƒฃ When the Roman Soldiers took Jesus into the house of the high priest , Peter followed him.. ๐Ÿ“L uke 22:54 ( PETER’S DARING LOVE )

Also all the gospels records Peter’s powerful words (May be out of his love for Jesus or his pride):

๐Ÿ“ฃ Even if all fall away I will not ๐Ÿ“ Mat 26:33; Mk 14:28
๐Ÿ“ฃ Even if I have to die with you , I will never disown you ๐Ÿ“ Mat 26:35; Mk 14:31
๐Ÿ“ฃ Lord I am ready to go with you to the prison and to death ๐Ÿ“ Luke 22:33
๐Ÿ“ฃ Lord,โ€ฆ I will lay down my life for you ๐Ÿ“ John 13:37

Also all the gospels records Peter’s powerful words (May be out of his love for Jesus or his pride):

โœ” The first denial occurred in private ๐Ÿ“ Mk 14:66-68
โœ” The second in public ๐Ÿ“ Mk 14:69-70
โœ” The third was accompanied by curses ๐Ÿ“1 4:70-71

๐Ÿ“ When the rooster crowed twice, Jesus turned and looked straight at Peter. That looks from Jesus reminded Peter of where –
๐Ÿ“Œ his true allegiance lay
๐Ÿ“Œ his over-confidence
๐Ÿ“Œ and the fulfillment of His predictions .
โœ… Overcome with remorse , Peter went outside and wept bitterly ๐Ÿ“ Luke 22:62

It was said by an ancient writer that whenever Peter heard a rooster crowed, he used to wept because he remembered the night he denied his Lord ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ

๐Ÿ’• Beloved Church, we may also fail in our loyalty to Christ, but if like Peter we repent and return to Christ, He will forgive and restore us ๐Ÿ™Œ
