Look to Jesus !!

“When he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me” (Matt 14:20).

Peter took several steps looking at Jesus, but the moment he saw the boisterous wind, he was afraid and began to sink. While faith stablishes, fear makes us sink. When walking on the water, Peter understood the strength of Christ that was able to keep him from sinking, and when he took his eyes off the Lord he understood that his own weakness prevented him from keeping himself above the waters, that is, above the world. In the course of our trials, which may prolong for some period of time, we often come to an understanding of the power of Christ and the weakness of our faith.

“…beginning to sink, he cried saying, Lord, save me”. Peter did the right thing here. Though he was sinking due to lack of faith, he knew Jesus was the only One Who could save him. There were eleven other disciples very near him in the ship, but he did not resort to them or request their help. “Vain is the help of man”. Many children of God resort to human remedies in their sickness and trials, and become disillusioned, and fall into despair.

Perhaps, you may be about to sink in the sea of trials and troubles. Do not look at your weakness and at your trials, for that will make you fearful and make you sink. Look to the Lord alone and don’t seek any human help. Look at the power of Christ.

“Look away to Jesus! Look away from all;
Then ye need not falter, then ye shall not fall
From each snare that lureth, foe or phantom grim.
Safety thus insureth; look away to Him!”

🔹THE RIGHT SIGNAL
The principle of revenge is so much simpler to practice. Yet compassion is Christ’s way; a deep caring for the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the whole person. It reveals the heart of God for sinful people; for you and for me. As a child of God, I must look at the whole person through the eyes of Jesus. Being moved by compassion always sends the right signal.
Truth is: Compassion is love in action.
🔹A MATTER OF OPINION
We live in an age dominated by all kinds of public opinion polls. But when it comes to the most important question for all eternity, a public opinion poll cannot give me the answer. I must answer for myself. Public opinion can help answer certain questions. If I agree with Scripture, and place my trust in Christ, I will have eternal life.  
Truth is: Opinion is no substitute for the truth of God’s Word.

Matthew 14:1-12
Listening to someone who is trying to correct us is never easy. It can be especially difficult when it is spiritual correction, when someone talks to us about sin in our lives.
Herod and his wife Herodias were in a sinful marriage and John the Baptist was willing to confront their sin.
Herod and Herodias became so enraged that they chose to further their sin by eliminating the preacher all together.
When we are confronted by a prophetic word, it is important to take considerate pause before taking action. As difficult as the truth might be to handle, it is still the truth. It could be a turning point.
Are we ready to face the same consequences for our faith like John the Baptist? John the Baptist’s life and ministry is an inspiration for us all. Like John the Baptist, we need to be zealous and have the burning desire to preach the kingdom of God.
Be not afraid to stand for what is right.
