Numbers 13:30 Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses and said *Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it

Twelve tribal heads were commisioned to spy out the land and they spied. Upon their return to the camp after 40 days v25, the spies reported that the land was good but the people and their cities were strong v27_28. This caused fear among the people and unbelief towards God.

But caleb stilled the people saying let us go up…and possess it for we are well able v30. He and Joshua displayed the faith in God. They believed in God’s plan

The other spies said. We are not able.. .expressing their lack of faith, for they are stronger than we v31_ contention of unbelief which leaves out God. These unbelieving spies then spoke to the people, saying we saw giants.. ..we were as grasshoppers v33 the conclusion of sight. Let us beware and walk by faith and not by sight 2 cor 5:7

Joshua and caleb spoke the language of faith we can overcome we can overcome giants of anger, lust, jealousy, murmuring and love of money. We can overcome satan with the help of God. God will crush satan under our feet _that is the language of the man with whom God stands.

🥥 In a Nutshell 🥥

Anger of God

The Bible says that God is slow to anger (Num 14:18, NIV). But the Israelites acted and reacted in an ungrateful manner. They complained, disobeyed, refused to believe God, treated Him with contempt and tested Him ten times (Num 14:12, 22). They ended making God angry thrice in these four chapters.

Complained – The Israelites complained about the wilderness difficulties. God heard their complaints and got angry (Num 11:1 NIV).

Craved – They craved for other foods and wailed. God became exceedingly angry with them. The anger of the Lord burned against when the meat was still between their teeth (Num11:10, 33).

Criticized – Miriam and Aaron criticized Moses about the woman he had married. The Lord heard it and His anger burned against them (Num 12:1-3, 9).

The Israelites saw the glory of God resting over the Tabernacle. God was them day in and day out. God fed them with manna, the bread from heaven. Then how did they ignite God’s anger?

Remembered Not – The Israelites remembered the fish, cucumbers, onions, leeks and garlic eaten at Egypt (Num 11:5). But they remembered not the miracles God had done for them at Egypt and while crossing the Red Sea.

Regular – The Israelites were regular complainers. Subtly it became their habit and lifestyle (Num 11:1).

Ready – The Israelites readily believed the bad report of the ten spies. But were not ready to trust God and His promise. They were easily influenced by the mixed multitudes (Num 11:4).

Dear Ones in Christ, life in this lockdown time is not easy. We are unable to do what we were able to do earlier. There are so many restrictions, uncertainities and fears. It seems like we are walking through an endless, dark tunnel with no light at the other end.

Do Remember
God Knows that we are treading through this wilderness of COVID and lockdown. He is leading us and He will certainly bring us out of this crisis.

God Hears what we say, complain, pray and spread. Thank Him for all the provisions. With a grateful heart pray. And don’t spread false reports.

God Sees – Let the fear of God be rooted deeply in us as God sees our innermost intentions. And dare not defy Him and make Him angry.

📖 Now these things were for an example to us, so that our hearts might not go after evil things, as they did (1 Cor 10:6 BBE)
