Jesus invites

🍞 🍷 Come, eat my bread and drink the wine I have mixed. Abandon your foolish ways and live! Walk in the way of understanding.” [Pro 9:5-6 TLV]

It struck me that the whole Bible is just one big invitation from God to throw away the “KFC/Macdonald” boxes of junk spiritual food and come to HIM… to His Table of Grace and find:

SOUL-FREEDOM:
You will tell the prisoners, ‘Come out of your prison!’ You will tell those who are in darkness, ‘Come out of the dark!’ The people will eat along the road, and they will have food even on empty hills. [Isa 49:9 ERV]

SOUL-CLEANSING:
Come now, let us reason (discuss, and sort things out) _together, …Though your sins be like scarlet, they will be as white as snow… If you are willing and obey, you will eat the good of the land. [Isa 1:18-19 TLV]

SOUL-FOOD:
… Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost! Why do you spend money for what is not bread? Your wages for what does not satisfy? … Incline your ear and come to Me. Listen, so that your soul may live… [Isa 55:1-3 TLV]

SOUL-REST:
Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. [Mat 11:28-29]

SOUL-PURPOSE:
Arise My love, come away… catch us the little foxes
(Rf Songs 2:8-15) (The call to partner in God’s vineyard)

The Bible is God’s hand of friendship and love held out to us, inviting us out of the dark dungeons where we were undergoing rigorous imprisonment as slaves of sin, into the freedom of His light & love… to find completeness and soul-rest.

Jesus is the Word made flesh …. He is God’s message of friendship made visible… He is God’s Hand of friendship made tangible…

Interestingly, the Bible ends with the BRIDE telling Christ – COME and His assuring her that He is coming soon. [Rf Rev 22:17-21]

Once we have taken that Hand of Friendship and experienced the freedom & soul-rest that Christ alone can bring, … our hearts yearn for more of Him… the First Advent makes us yearn for the fulfillment of the Second Advent.

Abba Father, thank You for pursuing us with Your relentless love. Lord Jesus, thank You for living our the Father’s message of love to us. Holy Spirit thank You for constantly revealing the Father and Son to us. Truly, COME, LORD JESUS… we need You. Amen.
