Giving of a sacrifice must be a sacrifice to you
2 Samuel 24:24 “The king said to Araunah, ‘No, but I will surely buy it from you for a price, for I will not offer burnt offerings to the Lord my God which cost me nothing.’”
After David had sinned against God by taking a census of the people, God had sent a plague on the people killing many.
When “the angel stretched out his hand toward Jerusalem to destroy it,” God ordered the angel to stop.
The point was a threshing floor that belonged to Araunah.
Because of the importance of this place, the prophet, Gad, told David to build an altar there.
David wanted to buy that place to offer his sacrifice.
Araunah offered to donate the land, but, to David, this was not acceptable.
The principle to him was simple: “I will not offer burnt offerings to the Lord my God which cost me nothing.”
David knew that we need to give God our best.
SACRIFICE is giving up something of value.
Sacrificing to God means, giving up something that it will cost us something.
We are always busy taking care of ourselves , family, work, others, and the list goes on……….
To sacrifice to God, is to put all of those things aside for a moment and do something for God.
This sacrifice can be taking extra time to worship Him, rather than watch a game on tv….
Or it may be praying longer for someone else instead of playing a game.
It can be giving some extra offering for a need, rather than eat out at the restaurant.
Giving of a sacrifice must be a sacrifice to you. It must cost you something, otherwise it is not really a sacrifice.
The perfect and ‘THE’ MOST VALUABLE sacrifice we can see only in JESUS.
A sacrifice is only acceptable to God if it is accompanied by obedience in love.
In Christ, we see a picture of that perfect sacrifice of love.
Give to God our best in love.
Remember that God deserves our best, in everything we do.
Show Him how important He is to us by our actions and attitudes.
Never compromise, and always seek to serve Him with passion and excellence.
Spend quality time with Him in prayer and Bible reading.
Put our energy and resources into the things of God.
Don’t hold back. And make His Kingdom our highest priority!!!!!!
