Let’s fight a good fight

2 Samuel 22: 2,3
And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;
The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.

David was a mighty warrior, he portrayed God with his war language.
We are also warriors in our spiritual journey.
Let’s have a glance at their spiritual significances.

  1. Rock – Protection- Clefts of the Rock- hidden in Jesus. We should not reveal ourselves, we should live a hidden life in Jesus
  2. Fortress means strong holds – encouraging ourselves in the Lord.
For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds (2 Cor10: 4)
If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small (Pro 24:10)

3.Shield – Faith
Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. (Eph 6:16)

  1. Horn of my salvation – Rejoicing in the Lord- joy of salvation.
Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say Rejoice (Philip 4:4)
Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.(Hab 3: 18)
  2. High tower – wisdom
For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? (Luke14: 28)
  3. Refuge – Hope
That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: (Heb 6: 18)

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: (2Tim 4:7)
May the Lord help us to fight a good fight like St. Paul to receive the crown of glory

Stay Blessed 😊
