The book of Acts
The book of Acts picks up the story of the embryonic church where the Gospel of Luke ends – with Jesus ‘ascension.
In this book, the physician Luke compresses a broad range of information about the development of the church after Jesus’ ascension.
He begins by telling how Jesus pours out the Holy Spirit on the believers assembled at Jerusalem. The Spirit, in turn, inspires them to spread the message of salvation from Jerusalem to Rome.
In his story, Luke stresses how unity and love prevail in the church and how God protects the early believers from their enemies.
The book of Acts is much more than an historical account – each chapter is illuminated with the power and grace of the Holy Spirit!!!

❇️ But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth (v8)
❇️ Whether we are Pastors or Professionals like Doctors, Engineers, Teachers or Home makers all of us are called to the ministry of witnessing 24×7 for Jesus Christ
Who is a witness?
- One who bears honest testimony to something true – Pro.12:17
❇️ This may involve having a visible proof for the person and works of Christ in our life.
❇️ Holy Spirit empowers a witness to show less of himself and to show more of Jesus Christ.
❇️ John the Baptist came as a witness to the light (Jn.1: 8 ) who said, ” He (Jesus Christ) must increase, but I must decrease (Jn.3:30 )
❇️ A witness increasingly shows the fruits of the Holy Spirit in his life.
❇️ Thus our witnessing lies in revealing Christ and bearing the fruits of the Holy Spirit in our life.
❇️ A witnessing life is built upon prayer, study and walk in the word of God. It may include stamping out bad habits and unhealthy attitudes towards others.
❇️ Let us take stock of our witnessing for Christ. Are we displaying the proof for the person of Jesus Christ in our life by bearing the fruits of Spirit?
