Ezekiel Chapter 18

🌈 God’s original plan for man was that he should live forever. Let us meditate Genesis 2:17 “… for when you eat of it you will surely die”. In other words, you will live forever when you do not eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. But Adam and Eve disobeyed God’s command, and they ate the fruit. The Bible says, “sin and death came into this world” Rom 5:12

🌈 God is Holy and just. He cannot tolerate sin. In today’s passage, He made it clear that the soul who sins is the one who will die ( v 4b, 20)
📌 And He applies this principle as an example from three generations :
1️⃣ First Generation 》 A good father (v 5-9)
✅ “He will surely live” (v 9b)
2️⃣ Second Generation 》 A violent son (v 10-13)
✔ “..he will surely be put to death..”(v 13b)
3️⃣ Third Generation 》 A good grandson (v 14-17)
✅ “He will not die for his father’s sin; he will surely live. ” (v 17b)

📝 The above example can be traced out from the three generations in the house of David:

Hezekiah – A good father ✒ 2Kings 18: 3
Manasseh – A bad son ✒ 2Kings 21:2
Josiah – A good grandson ✒2Kings 22:2
📌 Every generation will be held accountable for their own behaviour / sins.

WHY WILL YOU DIE? Eze 18: 31b
🌈 God’s desire for all people is summed up in one word LIVE (Eze 16:6b ; 18:32 b)
🌈 God takes no wilful pleasure in the death of unrighteous (v 23,32 ; 2Peter 3:9)
🌈..God wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth 1Tim 2:3-4

💕 Beloved Church, it’s true that no one wants to die ; everyone loves to live but people are dying everyday without knowing the Saving Knowledge of Jesus Christ.
Every death reminds us that one Day we all have to DIE, but the question is “WHERE WILL YOU SPEND YOUR ETERNITY “.‼❓
