The new generation knew nothing about God or the miracles

๐ŸŒน New Generation ๐ŸŒน

The Book of Judges records the cyclic, chronic backsliding, repentance and deliverance of the Israelites. The reason for this is vivid in the second chapter of Judges.

๐Ÿ“– After that whole generation had been gathered to their ancestors, another generation grew up who knew neither the Lord nor what he had done for Israel (Judges 2:10 NIV).

The older generation who passed away failed to instill the fear of God in the new generation. The new generation knew nothing about God or the miracles. He had done for them. They knew not the promises given to the Patriarchs, slavery life of their forefathers in Egypt and deliverance from Egypt. They were totally unaware of the wanderings in wilderness, entry into the Promised Land and allotment of the land.

The new generation had no idea about the Passover, Sabbath and its significance. They were totally ignorant about the Ten Commandments. Everything was Greek and Latin to them. So they started followed the gods around them.

Dear ones in Christ, this is a very serious warning to ALL of us. We as a large group are reading the Bible systematically. We meditate His word and study His word consistently. But are we sharing the love, sacrificial death and salvation of our Lord to our children and grandchildren?

Often parents fail to teach their children about God when they are young. Then they try to force them to attend youth meetings in their teens. But it does not work that way as teenage is a transition phase that is highly volatile.

It needs time, involvement and patience to bring up children in the fear of God. The best gift parents can give their children is leading them to the Lord. Start when it is early. Tell them Bible stories when they are toddlers. Teach them to read the pray.

Parents need to sit with children to teach them to read the Bible. The life of parents also makes a huge impact on children. Children will not pray or read the Bible if parents donโ€™t do it. Let us dedicate ourselves to bring our children and grandchildren in the ways of the Lord.

๐Ÿ“– Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it (Prov 22:6).

God bless us to be channels of blessings.
