Sad end of Judah’s final kings

2 Chronicles 36:15 “The Lord, the God of their ancestors, sent word to them through his messengers again and again, because he had pity on his people and on his dwelling place”.

The final chapter of 2 Chronicles recounts the sad end of Judah’s final kings.

Throughout this chapter, it explains how these kings have really messed up during their rule.

In the above verse we read that, God has been very patient and compassionate with His people up to this point. He has persistently sent prophets to warn them and urge them to turn back to God.

This is a list of prophets that God sent to warn his people: Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi, Elijah, Elisha, Gad, Micaiah, Nathan, Samuel.

Again and again,God invited His people to obey His commandments and warned his people, but they didn’t repent, instead they hardened their heart and would not turn to the Lord.

He gave them chance after chance.

The same invitation is extended to us today, to obey His commands.

People sometimes ask, “How can a loving God allow evil to occur in the world” and fail to realize that the situation is actually reversed;

The moment something bad happens we begin to look for someone to blame.*

*When something bad happens, instead of hunting for someone else to blame, … we should immediately look within to see what we have done wrong and look up to God seeking His forgiveness and remedy to the problem.

God is asking us, “Why won’t you listen to Me and cease from doing evil by obeying My Word?
Even the best of believers, tend to drift from the Lord.

It is very important that we need to take responsibility for our own actions.

But now, as we read in verse 16, there is “no remedy”.

Everyone has to face God’s judgment.
Dearly beloved in Christ, this is the time for us to get right with God.

Repent of our own sin.
Share the Gospel with our neighbors.
Pray that in the midst of His coming wrath, God would show us mercy.
