Ezekiel Chapter 12

The message of Ezekiel was addressed to his fellow countrymen, who has eyes to see and ears to listen but were blind and deaf. Yahweh called them REBELLIOUS PEOPLE twice in Eze 12:2

As the people would not listen, Yahweh commanded Ezekiel to do something (Symbolic Acts) that would attract the people’s attention:

✅ THE SYMBOLIC MESSAGE
🔖 Ezekiel must pack his belongings as if he is going into exile (v 3)
🔖 He is to go from place to place during day time (v4)
🔖 In the evening, he is to dig a hole through a mud brick wall (v5)
🔖 He must cover his face so that he cannot see the land (v6).

✅ PEOPLE’S QUESTION
Ezekiel did exactly as Yahweh had commanded him to do (v7), and the people came and asked him, ” What Are you doing “?

✅ THE INTERPRETATION
Ezekiel’s actions represent to what would happen to the Prince in Jerusalem and the whole house of Israel when they would would go into exile:
📌 The Prince- king Zedekiah will escape from Jerusalem at night through a hole dug for him in the city wall (v 5,12; Jer 39:4; 52:7)
📌 But the Babylonians will pursue him and capture him (v 13; Jer 39:5)
📌 Zedekiah’ s eyes would be plucked out, and he would be carried out to Babylon (The text says,. .He cannot see the land… He cannot see it. v 12-13, and it was fulfilled. 2Kings 25:6-7)

✅ THE FINAL MESSAGE
Yahweh reveal his entire plans to the house of Israel before it happens, and He also declares that He will spare few people (Remnants) so that the people will know that the Lord is God (v 15a, 16b,20).

✅ PEOPLE’S RESPONSE TO YAHWEH’S MESSAGE.
The people, who were called Rebellious, refused to believe that the prophecies of Jerusalem’s destruction will be fulfilled.
Instead, they were happy to quote a popular proverb of their day – The days go by, and every vision comes to nothing v 22.
But Yahweh said that he will change this proverb into – The days are near when every vision will be fulfilled v 23. And thus, He said, “For in your days, you rebellious house, I will fulfil whatever I say (v25b). It is said that this prophesy was fulfilled about four years later.

GOD’S WORD IS POWERFUL
Listen, Honor and Obey His Word.
