Cyrus in God’s Mission
(๐ Isaiah 45 : 1)
In Isaiah 44: 28 , the Lord said, ” Cyrus is my shepherd and he will accomplish all that I please ” and Cyrus would say :
๐ Let the city of Jerusalem be rebuilt
๐ Let the foundation of the temple be laid down.
Isaiah 45 begins with God calling Cyrus as his anointed one (v 1) , and later on the text says that the Lord will :
๐ give Cyrus the treasures of darkness , riches stored in secret places (v 3)
๐ bestow a title of honor to Cyrus (v 4)
๐ strengthen you, Cyrus (v 5b)
๐ raise Cyrus in His righteousness (v 13).
God called Cyrus into divine service :
๐ to subdue nations before him (v 1)
๐ to strip kings of their armor (v 1)
๐ to open doors before him so that gates will not be shut (v 1b)
๐ to rebuild His city (Jerusalem) v 13
๐ to set free the Jewish exiles (v 13)
Accordingly, the Bible records that Cyrus testified God’s commission to him in 2Chronicles 36:22-23 ; Ezra 1:1-4 and carried out the works under the leadership of Ezra and Nehemiah ๐
Today’s passage also says that Cyrus did not acknowledge the God of the Bible (v 4b,5b). Yet the Lord had anointed the unbelieving Cyrus to do His work.
What is the message for us โ
๐ If God’s people are unwilling or unable to do God’s work, God sees to it that the works gets done nonetheless.
๐ If there are some worldly people, doing God’s work, it must not be used to excuse ourselves from our God-given task as stewards.
๐ Nonbelievers are involved in many good works than some Christians do. If a nonbeliever can do all the noble works sincerely then how much more a believer ought to do.
๐ Paul exhorts us: ” Be excel in everything ” 2Cor 8:7 . Yes, much is expected from the church in this dying world.
๐ Beloved Church, when God calls us, He qualifies us if we respond. He do not wants our ABILITY but wants our AVAILABILITY.
Glory to God ๐

Isaiah 46:4: โEven to your old age, I am He, / And even to gray hairs I will carry you! / I have made, and I will bear; / Even I will carry, and will deliver you.โ
This verse comes from a prophecy given by Isaiah to the remnants of Israelโฆ men, women, families who may have walked away from worshipping God and some who had even fallen into idolatry.
What an amazing promise!!!
God will sustain us, through all time and circumstance.
God is with us from our time of birth to our time of death.*
God promises to not only take care of us but to carry us from womb to tomb.
It doesnโt matter our age or our past history, โฆโฆโฆ
โฆโฆโฆ *He is with us and He loves us. He will sustain and rescue you as you seek Him. Whenever you are feeling down declare this verse over your life. Know that He is with you every step of the way!
This means that if we let Him use us, we will never be too old to be useful in His Kingdom.
He made us โ created us for purpose, destiny, to give us a future and a hope. He carries us โ through the highs and lows of life.
Here is the summary of Godโs promise:โฆ..
Have no fear!
Not only did He sustain us in the womb and in our infancy, but He sustains us in our childhood, through our teenage years, into our adulthood, and, as He promises here, even to our old age and gray hairs.
Also He is able and willing to carry us and bear our burdens.
What a commitment of Godโs love to us! Everlasting to everlasting.
He is the God of all tenses- He helped us in the past, He helps us in the present, and He will help us in the future.
-He is our God, who was and is and is to come.
*He loved us before the creation of the world, He loves us now, and He will love us for eternity.
*God does not want us to live โฆโฆโฆ
by fear or
by chemicals or
by psychology or
by philosophy or
by anything else.
HE WANTS US TO LIVE BY CHRIST-BY HIS WORD AND BY HIS SPIRIT-FOR THE GLORY OF GOD.
May God have mercy on us and help us to begin living for Him this day..
