The chosen steward of justice
(๐Ÿ“– Isaiah 42:1-9)

God’s word through Isaiah is that he has appointed a servant, or trusted envoy , who will usher in a New Order – A Champion of Justice, whom we all long for and look forward to with hope.

The demands for justice was so prominent during the time of slavery in Egypt and later on during the period of judges, kings and in captivity. Even today people cry out for the demands of justice.

Today’s passage begins with God introducing his servant : “Here is my servant.. my Chosen One in whom I delight” (v 1). This phrase is pointing at Jesus Christ and his ministry of reconciliation.
In NT, God the Father has introduced Jesus Christ as :
๐Ÿ”– “This is my Son, whom I love ; with him I am well pleased ” Matthew 3:17 (At Baptism)
๐Ÿ”– ” This is my Son, whom I have chosen; Listen to him” Luke 9:35 (At Transfiguration)

THE ROLE OF THE STEWARD
๐Ÿ“Œ He will bring justice to the nations (v 1b)
๐Ÿ“Œ In faithfulness he will bring forth justice (v 3b)
๐Ÿ“Œ He will not falter till he establishes justice on earth (v 4a)

THE CALLING OF THE STEWARD
๐Ÿ“Œ To be a covenant for the people (v 6)
๐Ÿ“Œ To be a light for the Gentiles (v 6b)
๐Ÿ“Œ To open the eyes of the blind people (v 7)
๐Ÿ“Œ To set free the captives from prison (v 7)
๐Ÿ“Œ To release the people from the darkness (v 7)

JESUS AS THE FAITHFUL STEWARD
๐Ÿ’ซ When Jesus lived on earth he made the blind to see and the lame to walk ; he will return to rule over a kingdom that has no disease or disability.
๐Ÿ’ซ On earth He died and was resurrected ; at His return, death will be no more.
๐Ÿ’ซ On earth He cast out demons ; at His return, he will destroy the Evil One.
๐Ÿ’ซ On earth He came as a baby born in a manger ; He will return as the blazing figure described in the book of Revelation

How could we possibly live with the unfairness of this world if we did not have a belief that at some point the accounts will be reckoned โ“
โ˜‘๏ธ the nonbeliever has to chalk this up to the spin of the wheel and futile human remedies.
โœ… the believer, who trusts in a loving God, knows all believers have the same ultimate HOPE.

๐Ÿ’ž Beloved Church, the kingdom of God will grow on earth as the church creates an alternative society demonstrating what the world is not : injustice , cruel, corrupt, hatred but one day a society that stands for justice and righteousness would be established.

๐Ÿ“Œ We, as a disciple of Jesus Christ, are left with the task of displaying the signs of the kingdom of God, and the Watching World will judge the merits of His kingdom through us.

Glory to God ๐Ÿ™Œ
